Rock the Bells

A Poetic Look of a Poetic Masterpiece

July eightenth two-thousand-nine

The Comast Center was bumpin and the weather was fine

The costs were high just to get into the venue

Due to an all star studded rap menu

Supernatural the fire spittin host

Kicked off a modern Hip Hop Roast

The Theme seemed to be “Hip Hop was Dead”

That all these new artists had no real cred

The show didn’t feature the likes of Soulja Boy or Lil Wayne

It featured some artists with a lot more heart than fame

Although some of these guys have seen the lime light

Example being Nas going up there and killin it on “One Mic”

Nas with Damien Marley headline a cast of the last real MCs

And there was a taste of the past with Big Boi and a crew of OGs

The crew

represented the famed WU

Common came on stage early but still brought the heat

Having everyone in stadium up off their seat

When Slaughterhouse rocked the lower stage

It seemed like each member of the crew turned over a page

Budden, Crooked I, Ortiz, and Royce

Seemed to be the performance of choice

Until the Distant Relatives Marley and Nas

Came out on stage and sent the crowd in awe

Hip Hop isn’t dead and gone yet

As for radio hip hop its fate is set

Now the only true way to hear real hip hop

Is check the underground or wait for one these artists to drop

This rag tag poem isn’t worthy of these MCs

Their the masters of this art so go buy their CDs
